If you’re thinking of having a website or already have one, a question you may ask is what to write on your blog. You may even wonder if you should have a blog.

However, the best approach is to look into the benefits of having one. And, it could be part of your marketing strategy packed with valuable information for your target audience.

What’s your message, and how are you already presenting it? Also, are you getting enough traffic? Maybe this is the perfect time to look at another option.

Why You Need a Blog | More Traffic, More Revenue.

Your search-engine-optimized blog could be the answer to bringing you more traffic. So, give your target audience more ways to find you. And, keep them coming back to see what else you have to offer.

Search engine optimization gives you visibility online in a more cost-efficient way than almost any other effort. Therefore, the secret is in the type of content you offer.

Furthermore, it’s more effective if it’s written in the language people are using to find what they’re searching for.

Look at this realistically. If you’re searching for something online, what words do you use to find it? Put yourself in the place of your audience and think the way they do.

More importantly, follow them through their buying process and engage them on every level. Every search activity can be traced back to the different stages of a buyer’s journey.

Therefore, the more traffic you get results in more revenue. You also have a better chance of converting your target audience to actual customers who would benefit from your solution to their problems.

What’s Your Story? | Write About It.

Your unique story features how you want to help your audience. For example, you could choose to educate, promote, or share other valuable information.

Whatever your business or organization, you have several options for ideas to write on your blog. Your story is a way to form and strengthen relationships.

People have questions and are looking for answers, so write in a way that will connect with them emotionally. Meet them where they are and take them through to the next steps.

If you’re having trouble knowing where to start, find someone who represents your target audience. And ask them questions that will stimulate you to share something relevant to them.

Also, consider their challenges, pain points, and struggles. How can you help to solve them? What strategies did you use to overcome similar struggles you had.

Furthermore, give them the opportunity to interact with you on your blog. Ask stimulating questions to encourage their participation, and be prepared to follow up on comments and questions.

This encourages others coming to your website to hear from people who share similar concerns. And they will find what you express in your words helpful plus the point of view from others.

Your blog, your story provides you with a platform and microphone.

Value Your Audience | Go Above and Beyond

What you write on your blog should benefit your audience. So determine who they are, what their needs are and write to them. Also, go above their expectations.

How do you show you value your audience?

  • Focus on their needs: You’re in business to serve them. Therefore, make them your focus of attention and present the solution.
  • Be authentic: Authenticity is expected but a rare characteristic in some businesses. Be thoughtful and respectful.
  • Keep your promise: Do what you say. This also shows authenticity.
  • Offer great customer service: Prospects and existing customers deserve an exceptional user experience. It plays a huge role in retention and referrals.

These are basic business protocols to which you add your own unique identity to stand out.

You are in the spotlight. That makes you transparent to anyone and everyone online. In addition, these are people with all types of social media platforms to voice their opinions.

As a result, they will spread information about you and your business whether or not it’s accurate. And, word of mouth spreads rapidly online.

So, show up in a way that makes you transparent in a good light. There will always be disgruntled people even when you go above and beyond to provide valuable service.

Everyone will not qualify as your target audience. They won’t like or need what you offer and don’t have to. Respect their position without taking offense. Just make an unforgettable difference.

Research and Find Nuggets | Put Them in Your Blog!

Over deliver — give them more than they expect. You may not know all the details about a subject you want to write about, but don’t let that deter you.

Research plays a huge role in the quality of information you make available to your audience. It’s not always the easiest thing to do, is time consuming, but can be the most valuable.

Everything you find, especially on the internet, may not be accurate. So go a step further to validate the information by checking different sources.

Bear in mind, it’s best to get details from the original source. It’s also okay to see what others are saying on the subject as this can be valuable. Just make sure you share the information in your voice.

Nuggets, gems, or whatever other name you use, turn up in many forms and sometimes in expected places. They are buried in topical new items, other people’s conversations, articles and books.

In addition, questions and comments from your readers serve as additional beneficial topics to address.

Also, extensive reading on the topics you write about and other subjects you find energizing triggers your creativity. Use that to fuel your efforts to delight your audience.

They, too, are looking for nuggets.

Your Blog | Write it Your Way

It’s your blog, your business, your audience, so choose how you want to delight them. They will reward you with their repeat presence, business, and referrals.

If you’re still wondering if you should have a blog, start making a list of all the possible topics you could address. And get ideas from your team or others who know your business. Look for nuggets.

Read other blog posts and articles of interest. Check out your competitors to see what they’re doing right. You could also learn from their mistakes.

What do you, your products or services represent? Write how you make a difference and go beyond your competitors to add value for your target audience.

Show up for them; they’ll show up for you.

A really thought provoking article which made me question some of the articles that I have written lately. Looking at them again I feel I really need to add some more nuggets and deeper detail to help my readers more. Also checking that you are answering your customers questions is very important as often I Google something and am not given the answer I was searching for, even though it was promised in the title.
